HOME SECURITY

CRIME SITUATION

Home intrusions, housebreaking and violent crime continue to escalate not withstanding the fact that large amounts of money are spent on ineffective security systems.

Crime Prevention: SAPS is ineffective. Guarding units provide a degree of crime prevention and deterrent, but are themselves vulnerable to intimidation and corruption. Armed response units are largely re-active. Home owners are dependent on providing for their own security and safety.

The “Inside Job”: Recent research has shown that over 60% of intrusions are related to "inside jobs". The most sophisticated intruder alarm and CCTV systems are often defeated by the intimidation/corruption of contractors, staff, armed response and guarding company personnel. Counter intelligence measures are essential to prevent the "inside job".

Hijacking: A recent trend is hijacking at the entrance gate or gaining access to properties and waiting for one of the occupants to arrive. This has the added advantage of having the owner present to disarm alarms and indicate the whereabouts of valuables, safes and guns.

.

The biggest mistake is to under-estimate the criminal and over-estimate the effectiveness of security fences, electric fences and standard intruder alarm systems.

Home Alarms: An internal intruder alarm does not much reduce the risk of an attack on the occupants of the home. Once the intruder has entered the home it is too late; the occupants are in immediate danger of a violent attack even if the alarm is sounded. Internal alarms are primarily for the protection of property and are not effective for your personal safety.

The reaction of many is to seek the advice of sales consultants and security companies who will generally provide quality equipment, but their expertise and core business is in selling specific products and not in holistic security planning and advising on the full spectrum of security.
.

Experienced criminals cannot be prevented from breaching security barriers or electric fencing, (see intrusions) but a professionally designed outdoor perimeter security system will detect them at the perimeter before they reach the home.

ISC SOLUTION

The aim is to prevent crime before it happens and not to respond to a break in or intrusion after the event.

Renford Brand will personally conduct an in depth risk analysis and security survey in order to priorities vulnerabilities followed by a holistic security plan from strategy to implementation  incorporating all the essential elements (Scope of Work)

  • technology (integrated alarm system, perimeter detection, access control, CCTV, intercom, specialised security lighting, glazing, interface with home automation)
  • hardware (fences, walls, barriers, gates, burglar bars, locks mified to increase their resistance to defeat)
  • manpower (guards, armed response, monitoring, investigations)
  • crime prevention through architectural design (safe/panic room, landscaping, thorny hedges, paths, lighting, entrances)
  • exclusive designs These covert, concealed designs provide not only superior security, but are aesthetically pleasing and blend with the architecture of the home and garden.
  • counter intelligence measures are incorporated to ensure that the criminal does not gain access to sensitive information. Only qualified experienced installers are used who sign the necessary confidentiality agreement

The entire system is designed for personal safety. Early warning perimeter detection systems allows time for pro-active responses. (see "Perimeter Security" and  CCTV )  Our secret lies not so much in technology used but in the design and installation techniques applied. All installations are personally inspected and tested before handover

What the criminal does not know or can't see, he cannot overcome
